Pico Canyon Movies

From old newspaper articles I have found two movies that reported Pico Canyon as a location.

The first is "Outlaws of Red River" from the Reno Evening Gazette of 3/6/1927. This was a Tom Mix western. The movie still evidently exists, but I cannot find a copy.

The other movie is "Wings of Adventure" starring Rex Lease. I found the article in the Hope Star and Daily Press, Hope, Arkansas, from 8/2/1930. This movie has Lease and his engineer being forced to land in Mexico when their plane has engine problems. There they are captured by bandits. Lease rescues the beautiful senorita from a forced marriage to the bandit leader and escapes back to America on foot, all the while being chased. An American cavalry force is there to rescue him. The engineer makes it back by fixing and flying the plane back. I have a copy of this movie and it is pretty bad.

However, it was at least partially filmed in Stevenson Ranch. Below is a still from the move followed by a photo taken from the intersection of Pico Creek and the Old Road (and this was about the only location I could find where I could take the picture showing the whole ridge so the angle is not right). The ridges in the background of the clip and photo are obviously the same. There are a lot of other scenes in the film that were probably filmed around here and maybe further up Pico Canyon, but I could not definitely identify any other feature. Here is a short clip from the film showing the ridge.
